The Waushara County Veteran's Office is the point of contact for all veterans benefits programs at the federal, state and county levels. Services provided range from educational entitlements to pensions. VA nursing home applications, VA medical care offered to veterans by the US Department of Veterans Affairs in medical hospital located in Milwaukee, Madison, Tomah, and in outpatient clinics in Appleton, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, and several other locations in Wisconsin. We help families with respite care for caregivers of veterans, home health care for veterans, grave markers, Widows pensions, death and burial benefits. This office can assist the veteran in obtaining compensation for service-connected disabilities, vocational rehabilitation, homeless veterans, referrals for AODA, PTSD, mental health issues, primary mortgages, home improvement and personal loans,obtaining discharges (DD 214's), applying for upgrades on DD 214s, medals, medical and personnel files. Employment, federal and state forms for VA applications and other benefits too numerous to list.
The Veterans Service Office maintains a relief fund that is overseen by a three-member commission. It is used as a "one-time only" emergency aid. This office also distributes flag holders for grave sites and small flags to be placed on veterans' graves (first one free, then expense borne by recipients).
