GAIN Project is looking for individuals who are willing to become legal guardians for adults who are cognitively disabled. There is a crucial need for adults to become volunteer guardians for adults with disabilities and frail elders in Milwaukee County.
As a guardian, you will be responsible for making medical and placement decisions on behalf of the person who is deemed incompetent. You are appointed by the Probate Court to be the legal guardian, therefore you are the advocate for an individual (ward) who is unable to advocate for themselves.
Training is provided prior to being matched with an individual in need of a guardian. Staff provide ongoing assistance and support to volunteer guardians, as needed.
