ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton, which opened as Appleton Medical Center in 1958, is a 160-bed acute-care hospital. For more than 30 years, Appleton Medical Center has housed the first and most advanced cardiac-care program in Northeast Wisconsin through the Appleton Heart Institute, a joint partnership with Appleton Cardiology Associates. This cardiac program is accredited by the National Society of Chest Pain Centers. The ThedaCare Cancer Institute integrates cancer services and includes the Martha Siekman Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer center which includes leading-edge radiation oncology services such as CyberKnife, TomoTherapy, and stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery. ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus integrates orthopedics, sports medicine and outpatient rehabilitation and the Paul & Elaine Groth Surgery Center delivers outpatient surgical treatment. Other specialized services include a fully staffed emergency department and birthing suites.
