At Lakeview Hospice we understand that end of life decisions can pose difficult choices. We are here to comfort you, listen to your concerns and guide you through the dying process. The Lakeview Hospice program was founded on the belief that healthcare providers have an obligation to meet individual needs. The hospice team approach addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the dying person and their loved ones. This is accomplished through care that is family oriented and physician guided.

Hospice is appropriate for a person who has a terminal prognosis of six months or less. Lakeview Hospice services are provided to qualified patients without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, mental or physical disability, disease, religion or income level. Most hospice services are paid for by Medicare, Medical Assistance, HMOs or private insurance. For services not covered, Lakeview Hospice uses donation and memorial funds to help cover the costs. No one will be refused hospice care because of an inability to pay.

Individuals may be admitted to Lakeview Hospice when they have an advanced disease with limited life expectancy; have accepted supportive care and symtom management as their plan of care; are no longer undergoing curative therapies.

Hospice home care allows person to remain in the comfort and security of their own home by providing special services to the patient and their family. Hospice inpatient care provides access to the hospital for acute pain management, symptom control and respite. Residents of long-term care facilities are also eligible for hospice care.

The hospice team engages family members in the care and support of the patient, training them in caring techniques, fostering communications among family members and the patient, and helping them accept the reality of death. Following the patient's death, specially trained bereavement volunteers continue to support the family for a period of at least one year.
