At HEAR Wisconsin, you will find knowledgeable, caring professionals and a wide range of programs to meet your individual needs and goals. Our programs and services for adults include: Adult Day Services - Community Access for the Deaf which addresses the special needs of adults with developmental disabilities who also have hearing loss and helps these individuals improve their independent living skills, communication skills, and social skills through small group activities and field trips within the community. Group Day Program Services– includes group programs meet once a week with community outings 1-2 times a month. Sessions focus on activities of daily living which incorporate goals for social, recreational, financial, and communication skills. Adults may opt to attend classes every week or once a month for the outing. Activities of Daily Living Skills– includes individual home visits to assist with goals for daily living skills. These can incorporate goals for financial skills, cooking skills, emergency skills, first aid, communication skills, literacy skills, job coaching, and supportive employment skills. Visits can be arranged at their home, job site, or in their community. Support staff training– includes assisting the individual’s group home staff, their guardians, caregivers, or work site staff with learning sign language, communication strategies, and how to utilize assistive living devices, and/or hearing aid care. Supportive Employment- includes job coaching and skills development. In addition, HEAR Wisconsin is a vendor for Systematic Instruction (job coaching) with DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) for Deaf individuals seeking community employment.
