Description:
Kids Matter Inc. was founded in 2000, inspired by the compelling need to improve the lives of the many Milwaukee County children. We work to raise standards, help educate the community, and put tools in the hands of people who can help. The Fostering Healing Program serves children who are being raised by someone other than a parent (relatives, foster parents) who have been impacted by crime (child abuse, neglect, witness to domestic violence, homicide co-survivors, etc.). We help caregivers navigate complex systems and provide legal advocacy, safety planning, and counseling services so the children they love can heal and thrive after experiencing trauma. Kids Matter CASA is an organization of specially trained community volunteers who are supervised by Kids Matter staff who are experts in child welfare. CASA Volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in Milwaukee County who are placed in the foster care system. Fostering Hope provides a new duffel bag containing a book, toy and personal hygiene items to children entering foster care as they wait for a placement.
