Description:
OMHS is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in the Richland County area. Current programs include:
- foster care of stray or abandoned dogs & cats, as space permits
- adoption program for animals currently in foster care
- reduced-cost spay neuter program for dogs or cats of low-income county residents
- pet food pantry
Program participants will be expected to pay some costs at the time of service. OMHS will pay the remainder of the charges owed to the veterinarian. Program participants will be expected to schedule the surgery appointments and transport their own animals to a participating veterinary clinic. Preapproval by OMHS is required before appointments can be scheduled. Vouchers will be provided to help cover the costs. Some participating members may be able to foster an animal while someone is in the hospital or on therapy.
