Description:
The ADRC can complete a short memory screen that can detect possible changes in memory and cognition. A memory screen is a wellness tool that can be used to get a baseline to see where a person is at to monitor for changes. If changes are detected, it is important to follow-up with your physician for further evaluation. We can provide you with the results to keep for future reference and/or to share with your physician. Upon request, we can also fax the results to your physician. Early detection of changes is important in looking further at the cause. Some dementias are reversible, like those from nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, depression, thyroid issues, and more. Dementias that are not refersible can be treated with medications that may be able to slow the process and preserve quality of life for a longer period of time. Call the ADRC Information and Assistance department for more information or to schedule a memory screen.
