Description:
The Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Program at Stoughton Hospital is designed to treat acute mental health disorders in adults aged 55 and above. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Treatment is provided utilizing a multidisciplinary approach with patients actively participating in group therapy, individual therapy and activity therapy. Patients and their families receive education on specific disorders, medications and effective coping strategies.
In addition to psychiatric services, patients have full access to all services at Stoughton Hospital including: Physical, Occupational, Speech, and dietary therapies, medical imaging, laboratory & emergency services.
Anyone can make an inquiry call. If the person is not appropriate for treatment, the staff will direct the caller to appropriate services. The staff works closely with family, the referring physician and any agencies involved in caring for the individual.
Criteria for admission:
*Willingness to engage in treatment on a voluntary/passive voluntary basis
*Non-voluntary admissions arranged under court order or legal protective custody
*Prior outpatient treatment without adequate resolution or is in need of inpatient care
*Functional impairment responsive to short-term inpatient treatment

Stoughton Hospital is a provider for Medicare, Dean Care, Physicians Plus, Unity, Group Health Cooperative, The Alliance and many other insurance plans. Typically, Medicare Part A covers the majority of the cost.
