O.A.S.I.S. stands for Organization for Active Seniors In Society.
As the former 55+ Senior Center, O.A.S.I.S. has been transformed into an older adult community center offering a wide variety of programs and activities. The friendly atmosphere and recent updates to the facility have proven to be of interest to older adults whom arrive from various neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee.
Members enjoy the free use of the senior-friendly fitness center which offers over 15 weight resistant machines, 2 treadmills, and 4 exercise bicycles. The fitness center is staffed by students from UW-Milwaukee who regularly assist members with the machines and setting up fitness programs for those who request this service.
The computer lab offers 10 stations for members to send e-mails, explore the internet, or play games. A variety of computer classes are also offered for a nominal fee.
The Senior Meal Program provides a daily hot lunch and other activities. Lunches are fully balanced meals, including entrée, sides, dessert and beverage. Low-fat and chocolate milk and low-carb desserts are available. Volunteers help serve meals and also reach out to other older adults. Program staff provide information, outreach and referral information about other community services.
The Milwaukee County Senior Meal program is served Monday - Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Prior reservations must be made the day prior to attending by calling 414-647-6061. A donation of $2.50 is suggested.
