Volunteer Connection is a program of the United Way of Marathon County that builds community strength by offering community resources to meet needs and create positive change through volunteerism.
The program provides the following resources to assist the community with their volunteer efforts:
*Volunteer Connection Online - an online volunteer matching database designed to directly connect the specific volunteer needs of community organizations with potential volunteers.
*Coordination with United Way's 2-1-1 -- a community information and referral phone line that is answered 24 hrs./day by trained information specialists who can assist people who want to give or get help. Specialists can help people search for volunteer opportunities that can not or chose not to search online themselves.
*Volunteer Program Director and Assistant United Way staff available to offer personalized assistance, support, and coordination for volunteers, agencies, and all others with volunteer and donated goods-related matters.
*GoodsMatch -- an online bulletin board in conjunction with Volunteer Connection Online where agencies can post needs for donated goods and others can list goods available for donation.
*BoardsMatch -- in conjunction with Volunteer Connection Online, connects individuals seeking non-profit leadership opportunities with organizations seeking volunteers for committees, boards, and councils.
*Project Volunteers (aka Bulk Mailers) -- assists nonprofit organizations with securing volunteers for large scale projects that may include stuffing envelopes, labeling, folding, assembling newsletters, etc.
*WE Awards - Annual recognition of community volunteers each April. Nominations available Jan. - March at www.unitedwaymc.org.
*Additional resources to assist organizations with recruiting and retaining volunteers.
Individuals requesting volunteer services are NOT served by Volunteer Connection.
*RSVP, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - RSVP Connects Volunteers 55+ to Community Needs. In addition to helping the community when you volunteer, research shows that volunteering is good for you!
