Description:
The Palliative Care Program has two components: 1) The Palliative Care Unit is a unique specialized hospital unit specifically for patients with life-limiting illness. Patients are admitted or transferred to the PCU for symptom management and/or terminal care. Care is provided by a specially trained palliative care team. 2) The Palliative Care Consultation Services provides guidance and expertise to patients and families when requested by the patient's primary physician. Patients and families are seen throughout the hospital setting and on an outpatient basis by a palliative medicine specialist and advance practical nurse.
