Description:

Free legal advice and representation may be able to be given with certain civil legal problems to individuals or groups with low income. Eligibility: 125% of federal poverty level. We do not charge for our services. We do reserve the right to ask clients to pay certain costs (for records, copies, etc.,) but this is only rarely requested.

Our priority practice areas and special projects include:

•Consumer Law -- debt collection, foreclosure, payday and auto title loans, garnishment, and bankruptcy.

•Disabled Offenders Economic Security Project (DOES)
The DOES Project works with prisoners from 14 Wisconsin state prisons and has developed a unique working arrangement with the Social Security Administration and the Disabilities Determination Bureau that reduces SSI/SSDI application processing time.

•Driver's Licenses, Professional Licenses, Criminal Records and Employment

•Elder Rights Project -- Civil legal aid for elder abuse victims.

•Eviction Defense Project -- Special project for Milwaukee County evictions.

•Family Law -- Protective restraining orders, divorce, custody, child support, and other family law problems for domestic violence victims.
