The Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin leads the fight to stop seizures, find a cure and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy. Provides supportive care for people and families coping with seizures, public health education for schools, first responders, other human service providers and employers. Advocacy at home, at work, at school and on issues of public policy important to families dealing with epilespy.
Services offered: Individual and family counseling; Information and referral; Daily living skills training; Emergency medication assistance; Support group; Social and recreational opportunities. All services are free, no income qualifications apply.
Anyone contacting the foundation will have their names put on a mailing list for the quarterly newsletter and updates on programs. There is a week-long residential camp held in late July for children ages 8-17 with a primary diagnosis of epilepsy. Call for dates and prices. There is also a weekend retreat for adults with epilepsy. Once a year, a siblings program is held in Madison and Lacrosse (all day on Saturday) for brothers and sisters of children with any disabilities) school age K-12).
