Description:
The Disability Program Navigator will help people with disabilities navigate through the challenges of seeking work operating in comprehensive Job Centers as a resource to all who live, work and operate businesses in that region.
Objective: to reduce the employment rate of WI residents with disabilities.
Eligibility: Mental or physical disabilities that substantially impair the ability to work.
Navigators:
*Develop and maintain relationships with support groups, organizations and agencies that facilitate the employment of people with disabilities.
*Act as a resource to support the employment of people with disabilities.
*Connect job seekers with services that will support them in meeting employment goals.
*Provide information about Social Security benefits, Ticket to Work and link to Benefits Planning services.
*Provide information about programs, services, health care options, housing and transportation supports as they impact the search for employment.
*Facilitate transition of school age youth with disabilities to secure employment and economic self-sufficiency.
*Provide information and training about programs, assistive technology and accommodations.
*Educate staff at community agencies and businesses in issues related to working with and accommodating people with disabilities.
*Educate One-Stop staff and partners in issues related to working with and accommodating people with disabilities.
