Description:
he Mediation and Restorative Justice Center promotes and provides mediation and other effective processes of conflict resolution and restorative justice. Virtually all types of mediations are done - family, small/large claims, community, truancy, workplace, juvenile, business
landlord/tenant cases, and large and small group facilitations.
The Center also conducts community and professional workshops in mediation and conflict resolution as well as training in peer mediation. Speakers are available for conferences and meetings. The Mediation and Restorative Justice Center also operates other programs:
Victim Offender Conferencing - Youth and Adults - This is a dialogue between a crime victim and offender, conducted by a trained facilitator, that allows victims to express the impact of the crime and offenders to take direct responsibility for their actions. The process often results in a sense of closure, healing, and an agreement for restitution.
Youth Accountability Panel - Youth
The Youth Accountability Panel is an impact panel where juvenile offenders hear from community victims of crime. Juveniles attend this program when victims choose not to conference with juvenile offenders or the offenders are not appropriate to engage in dialogue with victims.
