Description:
Varc Inc, Richland Division provides production services as well as community supported employment, and day services.
Services include evaluation, work adjustment training, supported employment, school-to-work transition, placement, and day services. Referrals are accepted from schools, families, counties, and DVR.
Community Supported Employment helps individuals to obtain jobs and provide on-going training and support necessary to maintain employment. Community production services provide the opportunity to gain employment skills while earning wages in a production environment.
VARC will accept referrals of individuals who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill, elderly, brain injured, in jail with Huber Law work release, and veterans. They offer integrated employment with disabled employees working alongside non-disabled. Non-disabled are hired as LTE (limited term employees).
Assembly and packaging are the basis of work assignments in this service area. VARC contracts with over 30 companies, resulting in training opportunities which give individuals a variety of occupational skills throughout the year. Skills learned or enhanced while working this area include effective time management, quality work performance, and acceptance of supervision, on-task concentration, communication skills, and increased productivity rates.
VARC works with individuals to accommodate their special needs. Transportation is available for people in employment production services to and from a community job site. The private referral (non-DVR funded) rates for individuals seeking VARC employment services. These rates are approximately 75% of the regular rates.
