Provides a wide array of services for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing to enhance their economic independence and independent function.
Services Offered: Wisconsin Interpreting and Transliterating Assessment (WITA), Information and Referral Services, Provision of complementary Services to the Division of Workforce Development-Vocational Rehabilitation, Trainings & Education to agencies, organizations, educational institutions and other entities on communication strategies and the use of communication technology and assistive listening devices. The Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the primary state agency that strive for equal communication access and provisions in statewide systems of services for the approximately 500,000 people in Wisconsin with deaf, deaf-blind, late deafened and hard of hearing. The office coordinates and provides a wide array or services including technical assistance, training, consultation, information and resources to health care, mental health, community service, legal, law enforcement, educational, vocational and employment system providers, agencies organizations, and other entities.
