Description:
The Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a federal/state program designed to assist individuals with disabilities to obtain, maintain, or advance employment services to people with disabilities.
You may be able to receive vocational rehabilitation services from DVR if you have a physical or mental impairment that makes it difficult for you to get or keep a job. You will work with a counselor at DVR, he/she will tell you within 60 days after you apply if you are eligible for services (if they need more than 60 days, your counselor will explain why). You and your counselor will decide the appropriate services for you. Some of them are: Counseling and Guidance; Finding and Keeping a Job; Assistive Technology; Training.
Intake: 1) Fill out application; 2) Send or FAX application to Janesville; 3) Sign release so DVR can receive psychological/medical documentation; 4) Meet w/DVR counselor for an intake interview w/i 60 days; 5) Eligibility + (005) - category (1,2,3) based on documentation & intake interview.
Disability Program Navigators help people with disabilities "navigate" through challenges of seeking work. The Navigator also performs many other tasks with their objective to reduce the unemployment rate of Wisconsin residents with disabilities.
