Description:
Stepping On is presented once a week for 7 weeks in a community setting for people who are at risk of falling, have a fear of falling, or who have fallen one or more times attend together.
Workshops are led by two trained leaders, a health professional and a peer who themselves meet the criteria for the class and has already taken the class.
In a Stepping On class you will learn about fall prevention and behaviors that will help you to:
Reduce the risks of falls
Improve self-management of your falls risk
Increase quality of life
Improving balance
Gain strength
Make your home safer
Help your vision
Review your medications
Classes are highly participative, mutual support and success build the participants' confidence in their ability to manage their health behaviors to reduce the risk of falls and to maintain active and fulfilling lives. The Stepping On program will not conflict with existing programs or treatments.
