Description:
This is a multipurpose senior center that serves as a focal point for older adults in the community and which offer, at a single location, a wide variety of services and activities that are needed by and of interest to Hispanic elders and the community. The Center provides: meals seven days/week; transportation; cultural activities including arts, crafts, dance, music, special events and outings; computer training, literacy and ESL classes; exercise groups; social services and health programs; and devotionals and spiritual activities. This is also a bad weather shelter (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm).
The Senior Meal Program provides a daily hot lunch and other activities. Lunches are fully balanced meals, including entrée, sides, dessert and beverage. Low-fat and chocolate milk and low-carb desserts are available. Volunteers help serve meals and also reach out to other older adults. Program staff provide information, outreach and referral information about other community services.
Meals are served Monday-Friday at Noon; Doors open at 9:30 am; Call for reservations between 9:30 am - Noon; or register on-site one day in advance of attendance. The Center is open on Saturday and Sunday for meals only.
All participants must register (9:30am-11:15am) and receive a diners card. Once registered, participants may use their diners card to make a reservation at any Milwaukee County Senior Meal Dining Center. Reserve your meal at least one day in advance by phone or at the senior dining site before Noon. Call 649-2807 for additional meal site information.
A suggested contribution of $2.50 per meal helps the Senior Meal Program with the cost of the meal.
