The Disability Services Division consists of four bureaus: the Resource Center, Children and Family Services, Developmental Disabilities and Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment.
The purpose of the Resource Center is to serve as the entry point for the Disabilities Services Division by providing information and referral, assessment services and protective services to assure that people with disabilities retain independence in the community.
The Children and Family Services Bureau provides early intervention services, such as the Birth to Three Program for children who have developmental delays or developmental disabilities; the Family Support Program to assist families who have a severely disabled child under the age of 21 living at home and the Children's Long Term Support Waiver Program assists families who have a child with a severe physical, developmental or emotional disability.
The Developmental Disabilities Services Bureau is commited to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities living in Milwaukee County by providing support and services that respect their values, rights and culture, leading to the development and enhancement of skills for a fully productive life in the community.
The Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment Bureau provides an array of services and support for adults between the ages of 18 and 59 who have physical and/or sensory disabilities. The goal of the bureau is to assist individuals to remain living in the community by encouraging independence and supporting self-direction for all persons with physical disabilities.
