Description:
The showcase model home and office program is associated with Options for Independent Living, Inc. This one-of-a-kind facility is a unique blend of accessibility modifications, adaptive equipment and technology designed to showcase state-of-the-art accessibility in both residential and business environments. It is intended to give people with ALL types of disabilities and ages as well as others interested in accessibility a first-hand view of technology to promote independence. The concept of "universal design" is demonstrated throughout the building. Anyone can take a "virtual tour" of the facility by going to the website listed above.
In addition to showcasing accessibility, this facility is a "working lab" for students from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Students and staff use it to learn about accessibility design, construction techniques, home and work technology alternatives, and disability awareness and much more.
