UW-Extension provides educational programs in agriculture, community resource development, family living and youth development based on local needs and using university
research. UW Extension provide educational programs, printed materials, internet based information and consultation to organizations, agencies and county residents.
Educational focuses in agriculture include farm financial management and marketing for farmers and agri-businesses. Pesticide application certification is offered annually.
Horticulture education is provided through Master Gardener certification and individual contacts. Soil testing for home and commercial production is available for a fee.
The Community Resource Development Agent currently is working with communities on land use/smart growth planning efforts. They also serve as an educational resource to economic development groups and members of local organizations as they improve their organizational structures to accomplish their mission. Water testing is available through our
office for a fee.
Family Living Education works in partnership with other community groups to provide educational events and resources that help parents and adults who care for children.
Specifically, the Family Living Educator provides research-based programming about healthy child development and positive parenting practices. Secondly, the Family Living Program works with families and individuals to increase knowledge about and resources for money management and wealth building. Can provide free, confidential financial counseling/coaching to interested Waushara County residents.
4-H Youth Development provides youth with positive opportunities to develop and practice life skills. Through interaction with university faculty and trained volunteer leaders, they develop self-confidence to interact with others while being active citizens and leaders.
4-H Community clubs, after school programs, and summer day camp activities reach a variety of children and youth in Waushara County with educational offerings that engage them in activities to develop skills they will use throughout their life.
The UW-Extension office is also a resource for information on Continuing Education Courses offered through the University of Wisconsin. Our office has the capability to host teleconference and satellite programs. Participants must request use of equipment and space in advance and pay for any associated costs.
