Description:

The Waushara County Transportation System provides transportation service to Waushara County residents through two different programs – the Minibus Program and the Volunteer Driver Program. Both programs require that trips be scheduled a minimum of three (3) working days in advance, shorter notice appointments may be considered upon space availability. Please call (920) 787-0403 or toll free at 1-877-364-5344 to schedule a ride during the hours between 9:00am-3:00pm. Any passengers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Minibus Program is open to all Waushara County residents. Each minibus vehicle is wheelchair accessible. This program provides transportation to medical appointments, shopping, banking, post office, hair appointments, other personal errands, and senior dining centers 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. The co-payment for riding the mini bus is $4.00 for three stops within Waushara County. Additional stops cost $1.00 per stop. Trips to Berlin are scheduled two times a week, the cost is $8.00 round-trip and requires a minimum of 3 riders. Shopping trips to Stevens Point are scheduled once a month, the cost is $10.00 round-trip, and requires a minimum of 5 riders. Shopping trips to Oshkosh and Appleton are scheduled twice a year, the cost is $12.00 round-trip, and requires a minimum of 5 riders. Trips to any of our eight Waushara County senior dining centers costs 50¢ within 3 miles, $2.00 within 4 to 7 miles, and $4.00 within 8 to 12 miles.

The Volunteer Driver Program is available to Waushara County residents who are age 60 or older, disabled, or a veteran. Volunteer drivers provide rides within Waushara County and throughout the state. For many years, this program has provided transportation to medical appointments only. Beginning in October of 2013, non-medical trips area also provided so long as they can be coordinated with a medical trip. Co-payments for the volunteer driver program vary depending upon where the passenger is picked up and dropped off. The cost is calculated from city to city at $.25/mile.

When scheduling transportation, individuals must inform the dispatcher of all stops to be made, and if the passenger uses a wheelchair, walker, cane, or oxygen. Individuals on Medical Assistance (MA), Family Care or IRIS must also inform the dispatcher that they are on these programs. If an individual is eligible to receive rides through the statewide Medication Assistance transportation manager, they will be referred to MTM for medical trips.
