Description:
Social Services provides emergency lodging, Community Lunch and seasonal programs (prescription assistance, transportation, clothing, personal care products and other services available as funding permits).
We serve clients who are in need of short-term, emergency service who are located in Janesville, Milton, Footville, and Afton. Clients from other areas are assisted in an emergency situation and then referred to the appropriate agency in their community.
Participants must provide photo identification and a current piece of mail or bill for address verification (must be within last 30 days).
A free Community Meal is held at The Salvation Army, 514 Sutherland Ave in Janesville, Monday - Friday. The Community Meal is open to anyone, and is served from noon to 12:30 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall.
PATHWAYS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM
Housing for Single Adults
The Salvation Army Transitional Housing Program is a unique self-sufficiency program that address underlying issues related to homelessness. They do this by providing stable housing and on-going case management for 19 - 24 months. Program participants need to be single adults with no dependant children.
Eligibility: must be single adults with no dependent children, currently homeless, residents of Northern Rock County, employed/employable, must have a willingness to become self-sufficient by means of program participation and personal accountability, no current alcohol or drug addictions, no outstanding warrants, no sexual/violent crime charges or convictions, and have no criminal convictions or open court cases that make you ineligible for Section 8 housing.
FOOD PANTRY
The Food Pantry is open Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.; the Bread Room is open Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. To be eligible you must provide a photo ID, verification of residency (i.e. current piece of mail or bill) and be a resident of North Rock County.
