Description:
The Bureau on Aging and Disability Resources (BADR) is responsible for the development of policy and the management of programs that serve persons who are elderly, have a physical disabilities, are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, in need of adult protective services and persons who need or receive information about or access to community based long term support through an Aging and Disability Resource Center.
BADR carries out its responsibilities under contracts with multiple federal agencies in a way that actively promotes individual choice, dignity, relationships, overall health, community participation, self-sufficiency and respect. BADR works closely with other units of the department to implement the long term care reform proposals that utilize the Aging and Disability Resource Centers as single points of entry.

Office on Independence and Employment Coordinator
The focal point in state government for policies and services affecting people with disabilities. The Coordinator: identifies system barriers, recommends solutions and initiates change, promotes effective programs and services, provides leadership to support independence and self-direction, invites citizens to submit questions and requests for information, and collaborates with the state council on Physical disabilities.

Office for the Blind and Visually Impaired
The provided at no cost such as information, adaptive aids, support groups, education, safety tips, and other training. The Rehabilitation Specialist Program helps reduce the effects of decreased vision on everyday life. Rehab specialists teach concepts, techniques, introduce adaptive aids and share resources relating to the area listed. Services are provided in the home, group setting or in the workplace.

Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Provides information, referral, education, training and consultation to individuals of all ages who are deaf, deaf blind, or hard of hearing and their families. Call for information on how to arrange for a sign language interpreter and a listing of available interpreters. A service fund is available for those who need an interpreter but cannot afford to pay.
