Lifeline can help eligible low-income customers reduce their telephone bill. To be eligible, a customer in a household must be receiving benefits from any of the following: WI Homestead Tax Credit (Schedule H), Wisconsin Works (W2), Medical Assistance (MA), Badger Care, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Food Share, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Residents of Tribal lands may also qualify. Lifeline makes telephone service more affordable by reducing monthly charges for one telephone line for income eligible households by $8.00 to $10.00 per month. A larger credit may be approved so that the monthly charge is no more than $15.00 for a basic residential line, 120 local calls, 9-1-1 costs and the Federal Subscriber Line Charge (SLC).
The Link-up service pays for most of the installation charges associated with one telephone line and is available to households without a telephone service at the time of application. For more details, contact your telephone service provider and ask to aply for Lifeline or Link-up Assistance for Wisconsin residents.
